Pyrenees
The Cerdanya valley is located just through the Cadi tunnel, approximately two hours drive from Barcelona airport.
The drive is worth the effort as the Cerdanya valley is surrounded by the snow capped Pyrenees mountains. In addition to the great views, the mountains also protect the valley from wind, giving us the ideal flying environment.
Ballooning
Our balloon flights take off from within ten minutes of the hotel. We are already three thousand feet above sea level, so why not a couple more, just for good measure? It can be quite cold during the winter and spring when we favour this venue. So wrap up well, as morning flights have been as cold as minus 8 degrees C.
Segways
Segways are “the world’s first self-balancing human transporter.” To move forward or backward on the Segway PT, the rider just leans slightly forward or backward. To turn left or right, the rider simply moves the LeanSteer frame left or right. You get the sense of power and speed, yet you also feel a sense of safety and absolute control. It all feels natural, safe, and instinctive.
Although they’re ideal for short jaunts, Segway PTs can travel as far as 24 miles/38 km on a single battery charge, depending on terrain, payload, and riding style.
Snowmobiles
Our snowmobile excursions are in Andorra. Trips are through the woods with two guides, not because we might get lost, but to keep us under control. Snowmobiles are great fun, somewhere between a quad bike and a jet ski! They have been a hit with everyone who has tried them. Venue is approx. one hour drive from the hotel.
Quad biking
Quad bikes are a perennial favourite with our groups. We quad bike in other areas, but the Pyrenees quad biking trips have been voted the best yet. Excursions are safe, but fun with hills, woods and stream crossings to make life more interesting. With larger groups we split the group in two, with a maximum of eight biking at a time.
Snow shoe trekking
This was a new event for us in 2009. We hadn’t offered it before as it doesn’t particularly suit those who are unfit or those without suitable footwear and clothing. However it was a success and we are happy to offer it to all groups in the future as it was great fun and rather unusual.
Wine tasting
We don’t take our wine tasting too seriously, but it is very pleasant to visit a winery and taste their produce with friends. It is also a great way to introduce group member to one another in a relaxing and friendly environment and then shop together for your favourites afterwards!
